The Basavanagudi police recently arrested six persons, murder accused on the run, who were plotting to loot people to raise money to obtain anticipatory bail in murder case. They were arrested from Lalbagh West Gate.

The arrested have been identified as Byraju (27), Kempe Gowda (23), Mahadev Swamy (26), Ganagdhar (24), Uday (27) and Richard (27). The police have seized several sharp edged weapons and a packet of chilli powder.

The police received the information that a gang of six armed men was roaming near Lalbagh West gate.

The police went to the spot and parked their vehicles a few metres away, and when they were combing the area, they found the six men. They were asked to surrender. The gang members dropped their weapons and were arrested, said the police.

During the interrogation, it was found that a month ago, they had murdered one Madesha in Subramanayapura and were on the run.

They did not have enough money to obtain anticipatory bail and also found it difficult to get money for their expenses. They decided to loot people who travel late in the night.

The arrested also revealed that they were absconding after they committed the murder of Madesha, added the police.  A case has been registered in Basavanagudi police station.
