Delegation to meet minister over drinking water project

The ZP general meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of President K M Kemparaj, decided to give priority to drinking water programmes in the district. “The residents of Doddamagarahalli village in Aldur hobli are forced to drink impure water. There is an inevitability of giving an alternative to them,” said Aldur representative Savitha Ramesh.

Responding to the members’ demand that priority should be given to the drinking water projects, CEO Ramanna said the government has asked not to prepare any action plan for drinking water in 2009-10. “No new project can be taken up until the old ones are cleared,” he clarified.

“In emergency cases, projects can be taken up only after officials identify and examine the sites,” he informed. Vice President Manjula Raghumurthy, MLC Gayathri Shanthegowda were present on the occasion.
