One killed, three injured in group clash

A man was killed on the spot while three others were critically injured when members of two groups attacked each other with lethal weapons in a house near the Big Banyan Tree at Kolur in Ramohalli on Thursday night.

Jurisdictional Tavarekere police said the victim was identified as Dhanush, 19, a resident of Janatha Colony near the Big Banyan Tree. The injured Bharath, 21 and Sharan, 19, are battling for life while Punith, 23, is out of danger, they added.

The target of the attack was Kiran, who runs a gym. But he escaped from the spot. An old rivalry between Kiran and Mohan Kumar resulted in the attack and a murder, the police added.

Kiran and Mohan Kumar were in love with a girl while they were pursuing in PUC in a College in Kengeri. They nurtured grudge over the affair and plotted each other’s murder. Mohan Kumar had discussed his plot with his uncle Huchchagala, a history-sheeter. Kiran, who runs a gym, had kept Bharath, Punith, Sharan and Darshan as his security as he was tipped about Mohan Kumar’s plans, the police said.

About 20 persons came in four cars and stopped at Kiran’s house around 8.30 pm.They broke open the front door and gained entry inside brandishing weapons. They destroyed the TV set and furniture. Bharath, Punith, Sharan and Darshan, who were equipped with lethal weapons, resisted the attack. Kiran’s parents Gangaraju and Gangamma were shocked by the attack and entered a room for safety. They watched the fight between the two groups helplessly, added the police.

Kiran was speaking to someone on his mobile phone on the terrace of his house when the attack took place. He jumped down from the terrace when the attack began and vanished, the police said.

Dhanush was killed on the spot, while three others suffered injuries. Some locals informed the police who rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a  hospital. The post-mortem was conducted at RR Hospital.

The police have booked Huchchagala, Mohan Kumar, Umesh, Manja, Aravind and others for the murder and the brutal assault.
