Merchants and general public gheraoed City Municipal Council president Shreemathi Bangera in town on Monday, condemning the irregularity in the work on widening of Mahadevapete road.
The protesters said that the delay in the completion of the work has affected business. “The consumers no longer visit the shops for purchase. The City Municipality had promised to complete the work within a month. However, the work is moving in a snail’s pace,” they complained.
“The underground drainage work taken up in the area is going on in an unscientific manner. The drains are constructed at a higher level. About 25 per cent of the work has not been completed. The work should be completed by June end,” they demanded.
The CMC president, who spoke to the protesters, promised to complete the work.
