A 28-year-old businessman was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne gunmen on Monday evening in west Delhi’s Nilothi Modh, police said.

Police have registered a case in Nihal Vihar police station and hunt for the two alleged killers have started.

The deceased is identified as Rahul Mittal, a resident of Shrivam Park in Nangloi area.

Mittal has a manufacturing unit of making raw soap. They supply the soap to shopkeepers in the city, police said.

On Monday around 4 pm, Mittal had gone to meet a shopkeeper in Nilothi Modh to collect money for the soap that he had supplied to him, said police.

“As he parked his scooty near the shop two men riding a Pulsar motorcycle stopped few meters away from him and fired three rounds of bullet from a pistol.
One bullet hit Mittal on his chest and he collapsed on the ground. The assailants then fled in their bike,” said a police officer.

An injured Mittal was taken to a nearby hospital by the locals where he was declared brought dead.

Police suspect that an old enmity of Mittal’s brother with some people could be a reason behind the killing.

As the killers were not wearing helmets their identity is also being investigated by talking to the eyewitnesses.

“We are also scanning the CCTV cameras of the area to find out the footage of the killers,” said a police officer.

To investigate the murder police are talking to Mittal’s elder brother and his father also.

“The matter is under investigation, the real cause of the death will be known only after the culprits are being arrested and questioned. However, we are probing the matter from different angles,” said a police officer.
