Retired police officials and members of Retired Police Officers’ Association, Mysuru and Chamarajanagar district on Wednesday, opposed the protest called by police personnel.

Addressing the media, the association president and retired deputy superintendent of police (DySP) M C Mariswamy said that “unknown people” were trying to provoke the police to stage a protest.

“The state government is working for the welfare of the police. Police should have peaceful talks with the government authorities to fulfil their demands. Medical and police professions are noble and police should work for the sake of people,” he said.

‘Postpone protest
’Speaking to media, Congress candidate for South Graduates Constituency Dr H N Ravindra urged the police personnel to call off the protest till June 13.

“The state government was unable to take any decision due to the model code of conduct. I will support the police personnel to get their demands fulfilled,” he said.
