The 18-member trust is a government body and  has many MLAS and officials on it, he told media persons after performing the ground-breaking ceremony for the Government Commerce and Management College building in Bellary on Friday. It was almost modelled on the lines of Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, which is headed by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

He alleged that efforts were on to create confusion and doubts in the minds of the people over the entire issue. The Trust will construct a research centre, install a statue of Sri Krishnadevaraya and also develop a garden. It is also planning to create other facilities. Once the works were over, the land would be handed back to the Hampi Kannada University for research activities, he claimed.

There is nothing wrong if the Trust is shouldering the responsibility of the construction works. He decried the protests against the decision to hand over the land and said the government would not go back on its decision.

For development

When a reporter asked whether the trust was rightist oriented, he shot back it is neither leftist nor rightist. It only wants to take up development.  He said Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had announced that Sri Krishnadevaraya University will be set up comprising Bellary and Koppal districts.

S A Bari has been appointed as the special officer to this University.  Ministers G Janardhana Reddy, B Sriramulu, KMF Chairman Somashekhara Reddy were present on the occasion.
