Heavy rain that lashed the city on Wednesday evening led to traffic jams in many areas. Traffic was affected on Race Course Road, Okalipuram, Majestic, Chord Road, Seshadripuram, Magadi Road, Central Silk Board, Electronics City, Whitefield, Marathalli, Bangalore Dairy Circle, Richmond Road and other nearby areas.

Traffic policemen were seen manning intersections during the downpour to ensure free flow of traffic.

There was water logging at Veerasandra on Hosur Road and Central Silk Board junctions. Traffic police alerted authorities who managed to clear the roads.

An official at the fire control room said, “Fortunately, there were not many complaints on Wednesday. No tree falls or wall collapses were reported. from the city. There was water-logging at a few places in the city, but it was cleared within minutes.”

A senior traffic police officer said, “Roads are getting worse and potholes are filled with water, making life difficult for motorists to spot them. This is alslowing down traffic. We have deployed traffic police personnel at road junctions across the city to ensure smooth flow of vehicles.”

Akruthi Podwal, resident of Sarjapur Road, who was stuck for more than an hour near the Central Silk Board junction in Madiwala due to water-logging, said, “Even a drizzle
leads to waterlogging on this stretch frequently but nothing is being done about it by the authorities. Due to stagnation

of rainwater, roads are getting damaged creating crater-like potholes. Authorities should make sure they cover potholes before they claim more lives.”
