Yoga Day celebrations at 2k locations in B'luru

Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said, programmes to mark the ‘International Yoga Day’ on June 21, will be organised at 2,000 locations across the city.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Gowda said the International day of Yoga Celebration Committee will organise events in schools, colleges, community halls, vacant sites and many other locations to mark the day. The minister added that courses will be soon started in schools, to promote yoga.

Krishna Gowda, convenor, celebration committee said the committee members had trained schoolchildren from May 21 to prepare them for the event. Students from 1,000 schools will take part in the event. “We would like to carry forward the message - ‘clean environment, health and social harmony’, which is this year’s Yoga Day theme, even after the event,” he said. Around 200 major events are planned in the city and the main events will take place between 6 am and 7.30am.
