<p>The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has a new chief. IAS officer Rajkumar Khatri (in pic) has replaced Sham Bhatt, who is being considered for the post of Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) chairman. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The state government on Tuesday transferred Bhatt to the post of principal secretary, Co-operation Department. Sources said Bhatt’s transfer from the BDA was pending for long as he had served in office for nearly three and a half years. He was appointed BDA commissioner in August 2012 when Jagadish Shettar was chief minister. <br /><br />While there is speculation that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah transferred Bhatt following the controversies surrounding the officer, official sources said the government wanted to bring a more dynamic officer into the BDA. <br /><br />The government has proposed to appoint Bhatt chairman of the KPSC, but Governor Vajubhai Vala is yet to give his assent. There is objection from various quarters to Bhatt’s appointment to the top position, especially in the wake of several charges against him. <br /><br />Khatri was principal secretary, Tourism Department, before his new assignment. Transport Department principal secretary, E V Ramana Reddy, has been given concurrent charge of the Tourism Department and B Basavaraj concurrent posting as principal secretary, Disaster Management, Bhoomi and Urban Property Ownership Records.<br /></p>
