Actor Komal is gearing up for the release of his next project ‘Deal Raja’ where he essays the role of a conman, who finds new ways to con people and make money. However devious the route, the man is willing to take the risk and go the extra mile to make money.

.
The actor is also taking time to sign his next project because he has been devoting a lot of time to overseeing the construction of his new home, which he says took a lot of time to plan and design. In an interview with Nina C George, Komal talks about why he has become choosy about work.

What’s your role in ‘Deal Raja’?

I play a conman who is willing to strike a deal for the pettiest of jobs just to make some extra money. The real test of this conman is when he takes up a deal that is offered by a girl. His job is to find the girl’s father who went missing a while ago. He gets into a lot of trouble when trying to find the father. The rest of the story delves into how this conman wriggles out of the problem.

You seem to have lost a lot of weight. Is it for any project?

I’ve been doing a lot of power yoga and I also underwent pranic healing. This has brought my weight under control and has helped me get into shape. I also feel the weight loss has worked well for me because I have been getting some good projects after that.

Were you disillusioned with the kind of projects you were getting?

Yes I was. I want to break free from the tag of a comedian and attempt all kinds of roles. I have played the lead in a lot of projects and now I have changed my preferences and started looking out for projects that offer a unique character.

What’s your next project?

I’ve heard a script which is about the conversation between god and a man. The man sets out to find god and if god really exists. I hope to start work on this soon. The project will be a mix of comedy and action.

Are you producing any projects?

There are a couple of offbeat subjects that I would like to produce. These have worked well in the Kannada film industry and I also wish to introduce new talent through the films that I produce.
