In a release, the Minister said people might have been hurt with an article published in a Kannada daily, but one should not forget that Islam gives utmost importance to peace and tolerance. It is not proper to resort to violence. One can protest in a peaceful way, he added.

There is a need for holding peace meeting to restore normalcy. In the meantime, the Government should also take steps to bring the guilty to book, he said.
The Minister also condemned noted painter M F Hussain for accepting the citizenship of Qatar recently. “He (Hussain) should not have painted the picture of Hindu gods in bad tastes. He has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. Hurting the sentiments of people of other communities is against Islam. So, he should be condemned. The Hindus would have pardoned him if he had tendered an apology,” he stated.
