DDPI told to prepare list of subject expert teachers in each education block

Attempt to help govt schools with one teacher in DK

Zilla Panchayat CEO P I Sreevidya directed the DDPI to prepare a list of subject expert teachers in each education block. This is to help the government schools with one teacher in Dakshina Kannada district.

Once the list of teachers is prepared, the subject experts can visit the schools to teach the students atleast once in a week. DDPI Walter D’Mellow said that as per the government order, lower primary schools with less than 10 students should have one teacher.

The additional teacher in the school should be transferred to those schools that lack teachers. A school with less than 60 children can have two teachers. All the additional teachers in the schools have been identified.

He pointed out that one teacher cannot teach students of all the grades at a time in a school. He also said that one teacher cannot be eligible to teach all subjects. The DDPI said that the department is gearing to shift teachers from schools with less students to schools with a good strength.

Lack of cleanliness

Zilla Panchayat Vice President Kasthuri Panja said that majority of the PHCs, CHCs and taluk hospitals lack cleanliness in Dakshina Kannada district. She said that the weeds surrounding the PHCs and CHCs should be cleared.
