<div>Members of Hindu Jagaran Vedike and Sarvajanika Hitarakshana Vedike staged a protest in front of town police station on Tuesday. The protesters accused the police of not registering a First Information Report (FIR) against former minister K J George and two IPS officers in relation to suicide of DySP M K Ganapathi, complying with court orders. They later withdrew their protest after an advocate apprised them that FIR has been filed.<br /><br />Fury<br />The protesters, who were enraged over the alleged delay on the part of the police to file the FIR, laid siege to the station and also blocked road. <br /><br />Addressing agitators, Hindu Jagaran Vedike leader Prasanna Bhat said, “The case should be handed over to CBI for investigation. It is only then justice can be ensured to bereaved family.”<br /><br />Vedike’s taluk convener Ajit said, “It was unfortunate that despite court order, the police did not file FIR till 5 pm following day. The police seemed to have been reluctant following political pressure and higher-ups.”<br /><br />Advocate Krishnamurthy, who arrived at the spot, said that the case has been booked (Crime number 89/2016) against George and IPS officers A M Prasad and Pronab Mohanty.<br />Ajit demanded immediate arrest of George.<br /><br /></div>
