Writer R K Narayan’s articles, including his medals and certificates, were brought from Chennai, on Thursday, to the city for the museum scheduled to be inaugurated by the month-end.

The restoration work at the house of the late writer, of ‘Malgudi Days’ fame, at Yadavagiri, here, is almost complete and only polishing of the floors and garden work are pending. The articles of Narayan have been brought by his nephew R S Jayaram and his family members. They include his dress, spectacles, reference book and furniture. They will be arranged as they were found when Narayan was living there.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner C G Betsurmath said, “When we initiated the process to establish the museum, after acquiring the house from Narayan’s grandchildren, we did not expect to get so many personal things of the celebrated writer. Now, that we have all the precious items, their conservation and proper display are our responsibility. We have sent the certificates for restoration. Narayan’s family members have offered to assist in arranging the articles as they were found when Narayan was living there,”  he said.
