Minister Madhwaraj flays Opposition parties

District in-Charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj charged that the Opposition parties behave irresponsibly while discharging their duties.

Speaking to media persons, he said, “The Opposition BJP and JD(S) are not able to tolerate transparency maintained by the Congress-led state government. They are into the election gimmicks and are unnecessarily dragging the issue (referring to suicide cases of DySPs Kallappa Handibag and M K Ganapathi). It affected the proceedings in the legislature session.”

Madhwaraj said the number of police committing suicide was more during BJP’s tenure when compared the figures now.

According to National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), Karnataka, 122 policemen have committed suicide between 2003 and 2013. As many as 24 policemen ended their lives during the tenure of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, 13 during the period of former chief ministers B S Yeddyurappa and D V Sadananda Gowda and 17 cops ended their lives during the tenure of Jagadish Shettar. “It is inappropriate to blame the Congress government for the suicide of the police officers,” he criticised.

The minister said the Congress government has handed over eight cases to CBI, though the Union government is led by BJP.

Congress had demanded the then BJP government to hand over 13 cases to CBI and during the period, the BJP leaders themselves had ridiculed the morality of the CBI, he claimed.

He said that the main accused in DySP Handibag’s suicide case are Bajrang Dal leaders. However, BJP is not seeking that the case be handed over to CBI, he criticised.

He charged that seven out of 19 ministers, who were recently inducted into the Modi-led NDA government Cabinet, are facing serious cases.Nearly 30 cases have been filed against BJP leaders in the state, including former BJP chief ministers.

‘Not a party of saints’
He ridiculed that the JD(S) is also not a party of saints. Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy has six cases against him and his brother and wife are facing one case each.

He reiterated that the Opposition parties have lost all morality to criticise the Congress government in the state.
