Federation planned to intensify struggle for Mahadayi

Various organisations fighting for state’s share in the Mahadayi water have decided to form their own federation to intensify their struggle.

At a meeting held here on Sunday, it was decided to form a federation of Kalasa Banduri action committees for waging a concerted and organised struggle. It was decided that activists from Belagavi, Gadag, Dharwad and Bagalkot districts should be made members of the said federation. The meeting strongly criticised both State and Union governments for failing to find amicable solutions to long-pending issue.

Kalasa-Banduri Horata Samiti president Vinay Kulkarni told mediapersons that a 10-member committee comprising leaders of all the districts would be formed to lead forward the agitation. He said that the agitation would be modelled as a public movement to draw the attention of the governments.

 Condemning the police action on agitators, Kulkarni demanded that the state government should release all the arrested, unconditionally.
