<div>L&T Technology Services, which provides innovative engineering as well as research and development services across sectors, on Monday opened a new engineering centre in Dublin to get greater pie in the $1 trillion global engineering R&D market.<br /><br />In an interaction with DH, L&T Technology Services Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director Kumar Prabhas said the new centre will expand its reach into the North American market.<br /><br />“The centre will showcase technologies, product design and manufacturing engineering processes dedicated to supporting digital engineering, regional talent development and expansion of L&T Technology Services’ North American operations,” he said.<br /><br />Besides offices in California, Illinois, Iowa, New Jersey, Texas, Ohio in North America, the company has engineering centres in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Mysuru and Vadodara.<br /><br />Prabhas said engineering R&D has $365 billion addressable business, and out of which $67 billion is addressed today. “It is really an under-served market. The company is focussing on five verticals that include industrial products (IP), medical, transportation, telecom and high-tech, and process industries (consumer industries),” he said.<br /><br />He said the company is focussing on IP, medical and transportation areas taking into account the market size and the company’s competitiveness. “Our multi-vertical strategy helps us address these markets, as there is a tilt towards software and cross-pollination of innovation. You can take expertise in one vertical to another vertical,” he said.<br /><br />The company has filed 34 patents and co-authored 134 patents with others. It has more than 200 employees operating out of its onshore delivery centre’s in the US and more than 8,000 engineers from nine nationalities.</div>
