Hyderabad’s High Court of Judicature quashed Telangana’s land acquisition order that enabled the state to gather land for large-scale projects, while asking the state to compensate oustees as per the 2013 Act.
A single-judge bench gave its verdict on a petition filed by landless labourers from two villages in Jherasangam mandal of Medak district earmarked for the proposed 12,000-acre National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) that runs across 17 villages.
The labourers argued that the Government Order 123 does not compensate the landless labour, as it is only a sale agreement between farmers and the district administration.
Hailing the verdict, Telangana Congress Committee workers burst crackers in celebration in front of the party
office.
