First all-women batch of constables to pass out tomorrow

As many as 252 probationary women police constables of the first batch of the Police Training School, Mysuru city, will pass out on Monday, after successful completion of a nine-month training programme.

“Of the total 263 recruits, who reported for training on July 21, 2015, 11 discontinued on medical grounds. Home Minister G Parameshwara, advisor to Home Minister and retired IPS officer Kempaiah, Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) Omprakash, Director General of Police (Training) Prem Shankar Meena and IGP (Training) Alok Kumar will attend the exit parade, which will be held at the District Armed Reserve (DAR) Parade Grounds in Jyothi Nagar in the city at 9 am,” said Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) Deputy Director and in-charge principal of the school Dharanidevi Malagatti.

Training of the highest standard, as per the new syllabus, was provided to the first batch probationary constables by embarking on the path of best practices in indoor as well as outdoor. Indoor training programmes include cyber-crime investigation, moot drill, environment conservation, public relation, moot courts and application of scientific aids. The personnel have also been trained in crowd controlling, the deputy director said.

“In outdoor training, the probationary constables were trained in handling weapons, swimming, handling door frame metal detector (DFMD) and hand-held metal detector, karate, etc. Special emphasis was on gender sensitisation, cyber crime, unarmed combat and physical fitness. The probationary constables were taken to court, hospitals, police stations, prison and to Infosys campus to offer hands on training,” Malagatti added.

Probationary constables from 13 districts such as Chikkaballapur, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Dakshina Kannada, Davanagere and Hassan, have undergone a nine-months rigorous training in the school.
