The petition states the lack of adequate facilities to treat burn patients in various districts including the Chief Minister's hometown Shimoga.

The petition has urged the government to act immediately on the issue, as its demand has been pending since November 12, 2009, when it submitted a petition to Shimoga District Collector.

“A woman from Shimoga, who suffered burns had to travel to Mangalore for treatment. However, she had to wait for eight hours to get any medical help. We need a burns ward immediately. We want a reply from all the departments. We will wait for a month. If we don't get a reply, we will seek an RTI reply to check money sanctioned for district burns wards," said Dinesh Bhat, an NGO member.  Meanwhile, the issue is also being taken up by Citizen Rights, another NGO located in Puttur, which plans to send e-mails to the departments concerned.
