Chief Justice TS Thakur warned that the Supreme Court would act if the Centre continued to sit over judges’ appointments.
"Don't force us to pass orders to remove this logjam,” he said.
The collegium had cleared 75 names of HC judges but they have not been approved, said the court.
Chief Justice TS Thakur asked Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi to file a report on the compliance of collegium's decision on transfer/appointment of various judges and chief justices in High Courts.
Rohatgi assured that he would take it up at the highest level and get back to the court.
The court was hearing a petition that urged that judges be appointed according to the system suggested by the law commission.
