Jazz up those joggers

The jogger pant, with its relaxed fit, drawstring waist and cuffed bottom, offers the perfect balance of street style and comfort. Jogger pants continue to be the craze in menswear at the moment.

These tapered sweatpants are the ultimate staple for the cool and fashion-
forward. The wrong shoe or shirt can instantly take you from a style expert to an overgrown kindergartener. Here’s how to wear them:

Styled to a T (Shirt)

Of course, joggers are at their natural best when worn with a T-shirt. But to ensure grown-man-level style, reach for a solid or striped tee over your beatup band T-shirts.

You’re tucking it right

Wearing a button-up shirt with joggers is an easy way to make them look a little more cleaned up. But leaving your shirt untucked will undo all of those good, put-together vibes. This rule applies doubly if you’re wearing joggers with lace-up shoes or loafers.

Slip out of those slip-on shoes

The legs of the sweatpants, which feature elastic at the feet, are designed to fall just above the ankle so you can perfectly pair them with your favourite sneakers. Jogger pants already have youthful undertones. Wearing sneakers without laces with them makes it look like you’re actually trying to dress like a six-year-old.

Types of joggers

You can pair with denim joggers which, well, look like jeans but fit/feel like sweatpants, or a pair of crisp button-down and a lightweight cardigan. Chino joggers are just as comfortable as their aforementioned lazy cousin, and offer the stylistic advantage of being more formal. Regardless of which style tribe you fall in — high-end, comfortable basics or the tailored gang — there are certain pieces that can happily live in both worlds. Simple sneakers look great with designer jeans or cuffed trousers. A denim Western shirt can be worn tucked in with a sport coat or unbuttoned with rolled-up sleeves and a white tee underneath. And then there are kinds of pants that take the best of both worlds. Case in point: cuffed ‘jogger’ trousers.

And you can see pretty much every rapper, pop star and athlete rocking these pants.

But what’s so great about them — and should you jump onto the bandwagon?
Whether you’re staying home or travelling to be with family, joggers are going to be your new best friend. Between the relaxed fit and drawstring waist, you’ll be thankful you opted for this go-to pant after your second helping of turkey and stuffing!
