In continuation with their #KillBills campaign, Bangalore Political Action Committee (B PAC) and like-minded volunteers launched a second drive to rid the city of illegal bills and hoardings, with the help of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), on Saturday.

The campaign took off across 16 wards including Domlur, Vasanthnagar, Shantinagar, Horamavu, Kodigehalli, among others.

The volunteers removed the posters, bills and fliers and got the violators fined by the Palike officials who were called to the spot.

At Dasarahalli, Bharthi Theatres was slapped with a fine for putting up posters and bills along the roads of the locality.

“The last campaign was launched two months back and we had listed violators’ names. However, no action was taken.

This time, we took Palike officials to the spot where the drive was happening and made sure fines were slapped on them. More than 100 posters and bills were removed from Jalahalli Metro station to the 8th mile - Nagasandra,” said a volunteer from Dasarahalli, Vasudev Singh.

About 80 students from St Joseph’s College of Commerce, along with 30-40 volunteers, removed more than 30 posters and bills in Shantalanagar ward. Meenakshi Ravikrishna, one of the volunteers from Shanthalanagar, said the drive lasted for nearly two-and-a-half hours.

Mayor B N Manjunath Reddy took part in the drive held at the Richmond Road Junction, Shanthinagar ward, and pulled down a few posters, bills and fliers.
He said stringent action will be taken against violators henceforth
