The High Court on Monday granted bail to former Bengaluru corporator Gangabyraiah, an accused in the II PU chemistry paper leak case. Justice B Sreenivase Gowda granted the bail on the ground that the other suspects in the case have already got bail.

The judge directed the petitioner to submit a bond for Rs 2 lakh with two sureties. The petitioner was told to co-operate with the investigation and not to tamper with the evidence.

Gangabyraiah is accused of purchasing the question paper for his grandson for Rs 80,000 from one Kumaraswamy, through Manjunath, another suspect. The High Court had granted bail to M V Rudrappa, Obalaraju, K S Ranganath and B Anil Kumar in the case.

Kerosene quota
The High Court has stayed the government order which had reduced the supply of kerosene from five litres to three litres to non-LPG BPL card holders. Justice A S Bopanna stayed the order dated July 27, which had reduced the supply of kerosene. The petitioners, Siddappa and others from Shivamogga, have challenged the order and sought that it be quashed.
