55-year-old robbed and murdered

A 55-year-old woman was killed at her home in northwest Delhi Model Town by three men who left with jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh on Sunday night.

Police arrested them on Monday and recovered the jewellery and Rs 37,000 they took as cash. Two of the accused were known to the woman, said police.

Kusum Gupta’s body was found on the sofa on Sunday night with blood oozing out of her right ear and tongue sticking out of her mouth.

Sadik, 20, Bunty, 32, and Sunty, 21, were later arrested,. And the entire cash and jewellery recovered, said police.

Sadik initially told police that the other two planned to rob Gupta. Sadik later confessed that he was also part of the plan.

Bunty worked with Gupta in her grocery shop in Model Town for the past 12 to 13 years. Sadik, Bunty’s cousin, joined a month ago. Bunty and Sunty were neighbours in Cigarretewala Bagh jhuggi.
