Besides the success of the song from the Tamil film 'Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa' (VTV), Chinmayi is also winning plaudits for dubbing for actress Trisha in the movie, with none other than the star praising her.

This is not the first time Chinmayi is dubbing. She has done it for many actresses. But this was a first when an actress was complimenting her for the work. She never realized that dubbing for the Gautham Menon directed film, released last week, would get her so much recognition both in Tamil and the Telugu version.

"Trisha is the heroine in Vinnai thaandi and Samantha is the heroine in Ye Maaya Chesaave (Telugu version). So many of them (fans) have tried to find out who has dubbed for Samantha and so many write to me. I am touched.

"This is perhaps the first time that an actress (Trisha) is complimenting me... I did hear previously that Tammanah liked my dubbing for her in Kandaen Kaadhalai," Chinmayi told reporters.

She earlier dubbed for Sameera in Menon's 'Vaaranam Ayiram' besides other films. The first time she dubbed was in 'Sillunu Oru Kadhal', an opportunity that came through Rahman's studio.

Menon had said he would like to give her to give a test for Trisha and told her the character was Malayali. She could not speak the language but he said she could learn. The test was okayed and that was how she got to dub in VTV.

"To me, Rahman sir is like God. I also look upon him as my Guru. And as every single time the person that I was, that went in to record for him is always different when I come out of the booth. Something in me always changes for the better," she said. She stills holds her first song 'Oru Deviam Thande Poove' with Rahman in 'Kannanthil Muthamittal' dear to her heart.

"By way of release, yes it is number one and it shall always be special because its a break that no one can dream of. It was beyond my wildest dreams. I had always wanted a break with Rahman sir and it happened and for a Mani Ratnam movie, Kannathil Muthamittaal," said the singer.

The songs in VTV are chart-busters. Chinmayi finds it difficult to choose her favourite. "'Mannipaaya' (sung by Rahman/Shreyas Ghosal) has awesome lyrics ...'Hosanna', 'Omana Penne' are everyone's favorites. 'Aaromale' by Alphonse also got me stumped," she said.

The singer feels dubbing is definitely strenuous. Singing very rarely. "Dubbing is taxing, especially when the character warrants some screaming, in a violent scene or something like that. And at times it can be emotionally draining as well. I was under a cloud for a while after I dubbed climax of VTV," said Chinmayi.

Some of her top songs are 'Tere Bina' (Guru),'Enna Idhu' (Nala Damayati),'Sahana '(Shivaji), 'Mayya Mayya' (Guru), 'I miss you Da' (Sakkarakatti),'Vaarayo Vaarayo('Aadhavan) and 'Laesa Parakkudhu' (Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu).
