12-yr-old girl accidentally kills herself

A 12-year-old girl accidentally choked herself to death with a makeshift swing at her house in South East Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon when Vidhi’s parents were not at home. Her father was in the office while her mother had gone to the market, said the police. At 3 pm, her maid too left the house, leaving the Class 7 student alone. Feeling alone, Vidhi made a makeshift swing by throwing a cloth on the hook of her house’s ceiling, said the police.

“She was playing with the swing until her neck got entangled with the cloth, leading to her death,” said a police officer. Around 4.30 pm her mother rang her up on her mobile. When Vidhi didn’t pick her phone, her mother asked her brother-in-law, who lives in the ground floor, to go and check. Vidhi’s uncle went up and found the girl unconscious, entangled with a cloth. She was then rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead.
