Four of the seven suspended members — Kamal Akhtar, Nand Kishore Yadav, Amir Alam Khan and Veerpal Singh Yadav — are from the Samajwadi Party. The other three are Subash Prakash Yadav (RJD), Sabir Ali (LJP) and unattached member Ejaj Ali who reportedly did the maximum damage in the ruckus on Monday.

They were suspended for the remaining part of the budget session in the morning itself by Rajya Sabha chairperson Hamid Ansari. Surprisingly, RJD member Rajniti Prasad who was seen throwing away torn pieces of the bill in the House was spared. However, even after the suspension was announced, the members refused to leave.

When the House reassembled at 2 pm, they started slogan-shouting in the well and as a result of the din, the House was again adjourned for an hour.

At 3 pm chairperson Ansari took charge of the proceedings and asked Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley to speak about the Bill. The suspended members, along with their party colleagues, resumed their slogan-shouting and—in spite of repeated requests from the Chair — continued to disrupt proceedings. Fifteen minutes and several futile efforts later, Ansari announced that voting would take place immediately.
