Udupi taluk Kannada sahithya sammelan on June 6

Speaking to media here on Saturday, Udupi taluk Kannada Sahithya Parishath President Dr Gananath Yekkaru informed renowned critic Prof Muralidhar Upadhyaya Heeriyadka will preside over the sammelan. The sammelan hall is named after Poet Arunabja who wrote ‘Tulu Mahabharatha.’ The dais is named after renowned Yakshagana artiste late Malpe Shankaranaryana Samaga, he said.

Home Minister Dr V S Acharya will inaugurate the sammelan.  The colourful procession of the sammelan will be inaugurated by welcome committee President K Balakrishna Rao. Udupi district Kannada Sahithya Parishath President Ambathanaya Mudradi will hoist the parishat flag on the occasion. Udupi MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Kundapur MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty, Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, Dakshina Kannada Sahithya Parishath President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Udupi CMC President Dinaker Shetty will be the chief guest.
The valedictory address will be delivered by Bangalore Kannada Sahithya Parishat President Dr Nallur Prasad.

The topics discussed in the session include “Kannada language in the schools and colleges of Udupi” and “Varieties and specialties of Kannada language in Udupi”. Dr Padbanabh Kekunnaya will deliver a talk on Udupi. Dr Padekallu Vishnu Bhat will speak on “Koadvur Poet Arunabja” on the occasion.

Janaki Brahmavar (Literature), M L Samaga (education and Yakshagana), Dr P V Bhandari (medicine), Madhav Rao (bharathanatya), Shankardas Chandala (folk art), K Laxman Bhat (sand sculpture), M S Bhat (theatre) will be felicitated on the occasion.

‘Kavyagana kuncha’ will be organised on the occasion.

Udupi District Kannada Sahithya Parishath President Ambathanaya Mudradi, Chief Secretary Thingale Vikaramaditya, welcome committee President Mahesh Kumar and others were present.
