IT hardware output up 43 per cent to Rs 94,690 cr

While addressing a meeting of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Communication & IT, Raja said IT and ITeS exports have also grown by about 50 per cent to US$47.1 billion from from US$31.3 billion in the same period. While electronics hardware production registered a growth of 12.1 per cent in 2008-09, IT and ITES exports registered a growth of 16.6 per cent in the same year.

Electronics hardware production and IT and ITES exports stood at 27.8 per cent and 29.4 per cent respectively in 2007-08.

He noted that despite global recession, Indian IT, ITeS and electronics hardware industries continued to grow during 2008-09. The meeting of the Consultative Committee was attended by Lok Sabha members P K Biju, S D Mandlik, Shivraj Singh Lodhi and Vinay Kumar Pandey Vinnu. Other secretaries and senior officers of DoIT, DoT and Department of Posts were also present at the meeting.
