SRTS worked well, claim cops

While traffic police claimed it was a success, the chaotic Residency Road and other areas did not stand testimony to their statement.

Officials from the traffic department blamed the ‘slight’ confusion on parents who were sending their wards to schools for the first time. Parents were not well informed about the rules of parking and the SRTS programme, they said.

As if to prove that point, Swarupa Patil, a parent who had dropped her son to Class I in one of the top city schools said, “We were not aware of the parking rules and hence were slightly confused as to whether we had to park in the school premises or on the road.”

On the traffic management, DCP West(Traffic) PH Rane, said, “The department had planned well to ensure there was smooth movement of vehicles in the Bangalore Central. We had assigned enough personnel early in the morning where to ensure that the roads and traffic management were taken care of.”
