Increased security in border states

Last Updated 05 December 2016, 20:47 IST

As the condition of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa remained critical, regions in Kerala bordering Tamil Nadu were put on alert as part of increased security arrangements.

Following a general alert issued by the state police in the wake of reports on Jayalalithaa’s deteriorating health, more police personnel were stationed in the border districts of Palakkad, Idukki, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram.

Some services of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation to Tamil Nadu were disrupted even as many passengers also decided to reschedule travel plans to the neighbouring state amid reports of possible security issues.
