Addressing a meeting convened to deliberate on having irrigation facility to the districts in Chikkaballapur on Thursday, he blamed the political leaders of making this issue to gain political mileage out of it.

“They do not have genuine concern to provide water to the region,” he said.
This calls for a separate committees from the public to fight for the implementation of irrigation project. “This should be a people’s movement as the political leaders have failed to keep up their promise,” he said.

He pointed out that MLAs of Bagepalli and Gouribidanur did not attend the meeting convened by Chief Minister to discuss on permananent irrigation project.
 “This speaks about their dedication to their constituencies. It is time, people come together to fight for their right,” he said.

During S M Krishna’s chief ministership, the government had released Rs 2.5 crore to a Hyderabad-based agency to conduct an aerial survey. Even Dharm Singh had provided Rs 2.5 crore during his term as CM. However, the succesive governments have not been able to have the report yet, as the successive governments have not paid Rs 12.5 crore yet, he pointed out.

The K C Reddy Committee recommendations, if implemented, only 16 lakes of Kolar district will receive water and this will not prove any beneficial to the district. He explained about Nethravathi river diversion project.

Farmers’ leader Mullur Shivanna hoped that the Nethravathi river diversion project which is aimed to provide water to dryland areas will not face any hindrance.
Sir M V Horata Samiti president Anjaneya Reddy stated that the Gundya hydel power project is contrast to the recommendations made by Paramashivaiah Project.
CPI(M) leaders Munivenkatappa, Gangi Reddy, Mullur Harish, B N Munikrishnappa and others were present.
