Rashid alias Guddu, 29, and Imtiaz alias Rehan,23, were arrested on Saturday night by the Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad for plotting to blow up the headquarters of the state-run oil producer ONGC as well as two malls. They were produced before the Mazgaon court as the custody ended on Thursday.

The ATS sought their further remand to interrogate them and ascertain the identity of their Pakistani contact ‘Chacha’ (uncle), who was instructing them from Karachi. The ATS is certain that the ‘Chacha’ is Bashir Khan, an absconding accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bombings, who had arranged smuggling of RDX and arms from Pakistan to the Konkan coast to execute the attack. Incidently, Bashir Khan is uncle of Imtiaz Ali. The ATS is also hunting for three more suspects who were recruited by the duo for carrying out attacks.
