<p>The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike may not have heard your garbage woes but here is a city-based think tank which will take note of door-to-door waste collection and help solve problems related to it.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Public Affairs Centre (PAC) has undertaken a ‘Research to Action’ study to ensure efficient collection of garbage in the city. It has developed a mobile platform ‘PAC Waste Tracker’ to capture experiences of citizens during garbage collection.<br /><br />The study is based on participatory sensing where volunteers fill in an online questionnaire regarding their onsite observation experience during the process of garbage collection.<br /><br />The PAC Waste Tracker app version was pilot tested in six wards of Vignananagar, Azadnagar, Rajajinagar, A Narayanapura and Prakashnagar in collaboration with PAC’s field partner Society for People’s Action for Development (SPAD). The app comprises various socio-economic and development parameters.<br /><br />The data will be made available to the corporator, ward engineers and health inspector who can act on complaints or shortcomings in garbage collection mechanism, said a PAC executive.
