J P Nagar residents spell out their woes to candidates

Candidates of JP Nagar (Ward No 177) and Sarakki (Ward No 178) had an interaction with the ward residents here on Saturday. Addressing the issue of water crisis, Chandrashekhar Raju (BJP) contesting from JP Nagar said that upgrading of water pipelines and valves can prevent leakage and in the process of save water.  

Swarnalatha from JD(S) asked the people to make judicious use of water and prevent wastage.

“All houses must compulsorily invest in rainwater harvesting which is the solution for water shortage,” she added. According to Congress candidate Arun Kumar contesting from Sarakki procuring water from Hemavathi river was the only solution to water crisis.

Anand Rao, a resident of JP Nagar raised the issue of vanishing lakes and random issuing of licenses for construction of apartments.

Residents of JP Nagar and Sarakki were also worried about lack of parks and playgrounds.
Prakash Kumar, a Congress candidate from Congress representing JP Nagar said that when BDA planned layouts in the area allotment was made for civic amenities.

However, previous leaders in collaboration with the civic agencies have encroached upon the space. Issues related to bus routes, water contamination, garbage management were raised by the residents.
