The members of several Madiga organisations staged a dharna in front of District Minister T B Jayachandra's residence here on Monday, demanding the speedy implementation of Justice Sadashiva Commission report.

The agitating members held a Tamate protest and took out procession from IB Circle to Jayachandra's residence.

The agitators said, “Madiga population is highest among the Scheduled Castes and is the most backward of the lot. But the government facilities and jobs have eluded the Madigas and over 40 related communities. Gross injustice is being meted out to the Madigas on reservation. Hence, the government should take steps to implement the internal reservation as recommended in Justice Sadashiva Commission report,” the protesters urged.

Addressing the protesters, BSP leader J N Rajasimha said, “The state government should table the Sadashiva report before Cabinet, approve the same and refer the report to the Union government with a recommendation to implement the internal reservations for Madigas and other related communities.”

CMC member Basavaraju, Belladamadu Bharat Kumar, Giriyappa, Beeranahalli Hanumantharayappa, Madaluru Narasimhamurthy, DSS taluk convener Lakshmikant, Tyre Ranganath, Kotta Shankar, Kote Ravi, Shanthakumar, Yoganand. K Ranganath, Naveen Raju and others took part in the agitation.
