'Jaya didn't want Sasikala as CM'

Last Updated 07 February 2017, 19:40 IST

Elevation of former Jayalalithaa aide V K Sasikala to the Chief Minister’s position appeared to have created a rift within the AIADMK with a section of them seriously opposing her.

Senior party leader and former Assembly Speaker P H Pandian with his son and former Rajya Sabha member and party legal wing leader Manoj voiced their opposition for Sasikala’s ascension to the top job, claiming that Jayalalithaa never wanted Sasikala to succeed her.

Alleging that Sasikala has been made general secretary against the party rules, both the leaders accused Sasikala of acquiring all the assets of Jayalalithaa by betraying party members.

“All the assets of our Amma should be taken over by the government,” they said.
Former minister and MLA K A Sengottaiyan and AIADMK spokesperson Panruti S Ramachandran dismissed Pandian’s charges and asserted that no one can prevent ‘Chinamma’ from becoming the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

“He (Pandian) is responsible for filing DA cases against
Jayalalithaa by supporting opposition DMK,” Sengottaiyan said.
