Students asked to strip in exam hall

Even as students who were sitting for the examination in Government Senior Secondary school at Ismailabad protested when the invigilator asked them to lower their pants and underwear to check if they carried chits in their clothes, he remained adamant.
Sources said the invigilator, Surinder Singh, asked them to get out of the examination hall if they did not do his bidding.

They said that the students — all males — then stripped in the presence of other students but nothing was found on their body. Singh had reportedly become suspicious after he found one of the students cheating from a slip he carried.

Singh has been taken off examination duty after complaint by irate students.  
The state education department is conducting an inquiry into the  incident.
