Umashree falls ill during protest, recovers

Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree took ill while taking part in a protest against demonetisation of high-value currency notes at Hungund on Monday.

 Umashree, who participated in the protest march from Basava Mantapa to Mahantesh Circle, vomited as soon as she sat on the dais.

Legislator Vijayananda Kashappanavar sent her to the taluk hospital by a car. Taluk medical officer Dr Kusuma Magi attended on the minister, who recovered by evening. District Health Officer

Dr Rajkumar Yargal told reporters that the minister was exhausted due to continuous travel and scorching heat. “We checked her ECG and conducted blood tests. She has no health issues. She will be okay after two days’ rest,” he said.
