Poster for 'freedom for Kashmir'

The ongoing tension between the ABVP and Left-backed student unions further escalated as a poster demanding “freedom for Kashmir and Palestine” appeared on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus on Thursday evening.

ABVP supporters in the JNU accused the Left-leaning Democratic Students Union (DSU) for putting up the poster which read, ‘Freedom for Kashmir! Free Palestine! Right to Self Determination Long Live! DSU’.

The JNU administration ordered the removal of the “controversial” poster soon after the matter was brought to its notice. Umar Khalid, who was booked on charge of sedition for raising anti-India slogans during an event organised in memory of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru on February 9 last year, is associated with the DSU.

‘Rapist’ outfit

Earlier, the ABVP also put up several hoardings and posters calling All India Students Association (AISA) “rapist” and showing pictures of mutilated bodies with title “communist violence” on Delhi University campus. The AISA took serious exception to the hoardings and posters.

“The ABVP has resorted to  hate-mongering by putting up provocative hoardings on campus trying to justify the violence unleashed in Ramjas incident. The entire campus was filled with hoardings of random mutilated bodies calling it an outcome of communist violence,” the AISA leader Kawalpreet Aman said.
