<p>Delhi University professor G N Saibaba and four others were on Tuesday sentenced to life in jail by the Gadchiroli Sessions Court. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The professor and five others were accused of having links with banned Maoist outfits and their leaders. The sixth convict in the case was asked to undergo a jail term of 10 years.<br /><br />Additional Sessions Judge S S Shinde convicted the accused under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). <br /><br />The other convicts are Jawaharlal Nehru University student Hem Mishra, former journalist Prashant Rahi, Mahesh Tirkey, Pandu Narote and Vijay Tirkey.<br /><br />Saibaba, a wheelchair-bound English professor at the Ram Lal Anand College, was arrested by the Maharashtra Police on May 9, 2014, for his links with Maoist leaders.<br /> <br />He was initially lodged in the Nagpur jail, but later granted bail by the Supreme Court. <br />He had been suspended by the Delhi University. <br /></p>
