Tibetan Uprising Day celebrated at Bylakuppe

Tibetans celebrated the 58th anniversary of the Tibetan Uprising Day at Dicky Larsoe Community Hall here on Friday.

Settlement Officers Lhakpa Tsering and Deleck Jugney read out the statement issued by the Cabinet and the Parliament-in-exile of the Tibetan government on this occasion. The community people remembered the grit and courage of many Tibetans, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Tibet,about 57 years ago.

Tibetan leaders advised the present generation to carry forward the non-violent struggle for an independent Tibet with determination and courage under the leadership of Dalai Lama.

President of the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society B V Javaregowda said, China should honour the human rights of the Tibetan community and urged the Chinese authorities to stop damaging the culture and religion of the Tibetans. He also appealed to China to restore the freedom of Tibetans. He appealed to the United Nations to implement the resolutions, which were passed in the General Assembly on the issue of Tibet.

Former minister for religion and culture of the Tibetan government Tsering Phuntsok condemned the aggressive nature adopted by China government against Tibet and urged the international community to exert pressure on China to release Panchan Lama.
