Fire tenders continued to be in action at the garbage processing unit at Tanniranahalli of Doddabelavangala hobli, Doddaballapur taluk, on Saturday also. The unit had caught fire on Friday evening.
An official from Fire and Emergency Services said that at least four fire tenders had been pressed into service. Heavy smoke billowing from the garbage unit had engulfed the neighbouring villages.
MLA T Venkataramanaiah, who visited the spot on Saturday, said unsegregated garbage was being dumped at the processing unit. Doddballapur police have registered a case of negligence against the unit’s owner and it’s staff. The reason for fire is also being investigated.
