For those who like to munch on a variety of snacks and also enjoy a cool drink in the same space, ‘Big Bite’ in Vijayanagar is just the right place. The eatery, which has been around for two years now, has items ranging from sandwiches to Chinese food on its menu.

Having been in the food industry for more than a decade, the owner of the eatery, K Shreepathi Rao, wanted to come up with a compact yet detailed eating space that catered to hunger pangs, big or small.

“That’s how ‘Big Bite’ came into being. I wanted to provide people with something that could either satiate their hunger or quench their thirst. I stuck to the name for two reasons — the portion size and the fact that it would draw attention,” he says. The fact that the place caters only to vegetarians works as an added advantage, he believes. “We have more than 10 varieties of sandwiches including ‘Club Sandwich’ and ‘Big Bite Special’, which are a hit among our customers. Sandwiches with ‘paneer’, mushroom and cheese fillings are also popular,” he says.

The highlights of the place also include pizzas and Chinese items. “Our pizzas, especially the sauces used in them, are unique in taste. They are affordable and just the right size,” he says. Shreepathi vouches that the sauces and ‘chutneys’ used by them are prepared inhouse and are hygienic. “The vegetables used are freshly sourced from the local markets and ingredients like butter are always of the best quality.”

Chinese dishes like ‘Paneer sticks’ and ‘Babycorn sticks’ are a hit among the younger crowd. “We see a mixed crowd that varies from students to families,” he adds. Shreepathi says that their ‘chaats’ are also popular among youngsters. “Our ‘Big Bite basket chaat’ is a unique item made out of ‘aloo’ andincludes all the vegetables,” he details.

One can wash down the snacks with drinks like ‘Fruit punch’ or a thick ‘Oreo milkshake’. “We also have fresh juices for those who would like a wholesome drink. Summer special soda-based drinks like ‘Jeera masala’, ‘Kala khatta’ and ‘Kokum’ are available for just Rs 15,” he adds.

The much sought-after desserts include ‘Alphonso delight’ (seasonal) that uses mango and fresh cream and ‘Mini bite’ which has fruits like apple, banana and pineapple in vanilla and strawberry ice cream with nuts.
This humble eatery with simple interiors can accommodate around 20 people. They also have an interesting addition for students called ‘Happy Hours’, wherein they can enjoy a snack or a drink for Rs 10 from Monday to Friday between 11 am and 3 pm.

“Sandwiches, watermelon juice, ‘vada pav’, ‘kachori’ and ‘dabeli’ are included in this special menu,” he says.

The eatery is open from 11 am to 11 pm. It is located at No 1714, 17th Cross, 21st Main, Maruthi Mandir, Vijayanagar.
