JOIN USThree DMK party cadres were stabbed during violence in R K Nagar constituency on Wednesday here even as the Election Commission seized more than Rs 13 lakh unaccounted cash and arrested eight people who tried to bribe voters.
The police said that a group of unidentified persons stabbed three DMK cadres with sharp weapons when they tried to stop them from bribing voters. The victims have been admitted to hospital.
“We have arrested three suspects and seized Rs 10 lakh from them,” the police said.
Chennai District Election Officer D Karthikeyan said the authorities seized Rs 13 lakh on Wednesday and booked eight people for violating the model code of conduct.
Karthikeyan said the commission has received more than 400 complaints with regard to violation of the model code of conduct.
