UP scraps reservation in PG courses at private medical colleges

Uttar Pradesh government has scrapped reservation for the SC, ST and OBC in the post graduate courses at private medical and dental colleges in the state.

According to the official sources here on Thursday, the decision would come into effect from the forthcoming academic session.

The previous Akhilesh Yadav government had on March 10, a day before the counting of votes for the recently concluded assembly polls in the state, abolished the reservation.

''The present dispensation has decided to implement the policy'', said an official here.

The then Mulayam Singh Yadav government in 2006 had made the provision to give reservation to the SC, ST and OBC in admission to the post graduate courses in private medical and dental colleges.
