<p>Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said the government will release the caste census data soon. <br /><br /><br />The CM, who was here to meet Congress top leadership to appraise about the recent held bypolls results, told reporters that he already held a discussion with Karnataka Backward Class Commission officials and they have agreed to finalise data at the earliest. <br /><br />The Commission is compiling datas of two districts- Bengaluru Urban and Rural Districts. Once the Commission submits its report, the State Government will make the details to public, he said. <br /><br />With the assembly polls in early next year, the Chief Minister earlier said his government was contemplating providing reservation commensurate with the population based on outcome of the caste census.<br /><br />There is a demand to increase the reservation in proportion to the population and he too is keen on this. He said he was awaiting the release of the socio-economic survey report to take a final call.<br /><br />“Caste census was done in 1931 and reservation was done based on it. Over the years, the population has increased. With the Congress government that ordering for a socio-economic survey to ascertain the impact of reservation benefits and also to know how many are still deprived of it. Once the socio-economic survey report is released, steps would be taken to increase the reservation commensurate with the population,” said Siddaramaiah.</p>
