The state BJP has taken objection to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah taking Mandya Superintendent of Police C H Sudhir Kumar Reddy to task in full public view during a programme in Malavalli on Thursday.

In a statement, BJP state spokesperson and MLA S Suresh Kumar said the incident had brought to fore the arrogance of Siddaramaiah. “The BJP is of the view that public humiliation of the SP, who is head of the police force in his district, is totally deplorable. The chief minister has pushed the SP to a situation from where he would find it extremely difficult to command the respect of his juniors as well as the public,” Kumar stated.

The SP was pulled up apparently for not stopping the BJP activists from waving black flags at the chief minister in Malavalli for not waiving farm loans.

Kumar said that humiliation of government officials has become common in the Siddaramaiah regime.

He has listed certain incidents: Udupi Deputy Commissioner  Priyanka Mary Francis was recently threatened for taking on the sand mafia; police constable Prakash was suspended for initiating action against eve-teasers at Malpe in Udupi; former DySP Anupama Shenoy got “hounded” for taking on the liquor lobby and IAS officer C Shikha, who was deputy commissioner of Mysuru, was abused by the chief minister’s close associate Marigowda. In all these incidents, the government remained a mute spectator, Kumar stated.
